Tips: Run three phase motor on single phase power supply by VFD
Experience: In my experimental workshop, because there is no three phase power supply in the laboratory, the motor installed on the electrical equipment in the laboratory is a three phase asynchronous motor. My solution is to use a single phase VFD to drive the three phase asynchronous motor. We know that the variable frequency drive has three phase input & output, as well as single phase input and three phase output. For single phase VFD, the 220V VFD can be connected, and three phase power output can be achieved through the inverter device inside the VFD. But the voltage of three phase electricity cannot reach the rated working voltage of the 3-phase asynchronous motor. We need to modify the wiring method in the motor junction box. If the stator winding connection of the 3-phase motor is star connection, we need to change it to delta connection.
