Tips: VFD derating on altitude & temperature
While derating variable frequency drives (VFD) for altitude varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, as long as you are de-rating the VFD to meet the environment (temperature & altitude) you really shouldn't have a problem finding a VFD. I use a factor of 1% per every 328 feet above 3280 feet. Using that method, you will need to oversize the VFD by 20% to properly work over 10,000 feet, for example, you should go to a 5hp VFD instead of a 3hp VFD for that altitude. That, of course, doesn't account for the extreme cold temperatures which will be a problem, in such condition the operating and storage temperatures can be overcome by proper thermal management like putting a heater into the enclosure of the VFD. The storage temperature is about 20 degrees F lower that what is recommended by most VFD manufacturers but it may be tolerated.
Existing reviews
The product has great potential, but the section on factory settings in the manual is difficult to read.

For the price, this VFD offers exceptional value. Compared to other models in the market, it provides the same high level of performance and durability at a fraction of the cost. The initial investment is quickly offset by the energy savings and increased productivity it brings. A smart choice for any business looking to optimize their motor control systems without breaking the bank.
